    Description

Rare 2 lekë circulating commemorative coin of Albania, minted in 1989 for the 45th anniversary of the country's liberation in the WWII.  The coin is bought in a coin roll from the National Bank of Albania in February 1993, with a stamp of November 1989. It is the last minted circulating coin of communist Albania. The coin is in mint state and has never circulated, retaining the original full mint luster, with only minor hairline wear near the top right edge.
On the obverse side it depicts the Albanian coat of arms during the Communist Dictatorship (1945-1991) and the lettering “REPUBLIKA POPULLORE SOCIALISTE E SHQIPERISE 1989" (translating: People's Socialist Republic of Albania 1989). On the reverse it depicts the denomination "2 LEKE" and the motif with a partisan fighter holding a gun on a big five-pointed star in the background, below the lettering "45 VJETORI I ÇLIRIMIT" (translating: 45th Anniversary of Liberation).
