Description
This auction is for a set of 5 lovely vintage Normandie Bouquet and Lattice pattern depression glass cereal bowls. They are made by the Federal Glass Company and they date from 1933 to 1940.The bowls measure 6 1/2" in diameter and 1 1/4" high. Two of them weigh 11.1 OZ each and the other three weigh 11.4 OZ each.
There is no maker's mark but I found these in Gene Florence's Collector's Encyclopedia of Depression Glass, 12th Edition.
The color is iridescent. They are orange with mostly pink iridescence.
The inside is smooth and underneath, the different patterns are raised under the 3/4" rim, around the outside of the bowl and on the base.
They are in mostly very good condition. There are no cracks and no chips except for small ones on the inner rim. They all have some small areas of color loss on the inner rim. In addition, one bowl has a small dark orange stain on the flat rim and the embossed pattern on the underside is thin; one bowl has four small dark orange stains on the inside bottom; one bowl has a very small chip on the inner rim about 3/16" long and the embossed pattern on the underside is thin; one bowl has three tiny fleabites on the inner rim and two small dips in the glass on the flat rim with a less than 1/8" glaze covered line that looks like from the manufacturing process; the last bowl has a few tiny fleabites on the inner rim, a larger chip of 3/16" on the inner rim and a 1/8" scratch on the under side of the bottom that looks white against the orange background. They would still be a lovely addition to your collection.
